Walking Home from Figaro’s Bistro
Don McLagan
Close as an old robe,
musky night
enfolds the two of us.
A truck hurries past
chasing its own headlights.
Our fingers twine.
For us, tonight
has no haste
as dusk, languorous,
content
and fragrant with jasmine,
strolls towards dark.
