Walking Home from Figaro’s Bistro

Don McLagan

Close as an old robe,
musky night

enfolds the two of us.
A truck hurries past

chasing its own headlights.
Our fingers twine.

For us, tonight
has no haste

as dusk, languorous,
content

and fragrant with jasmine,
strolls towards dark.

Don McLagan is an entrepreneur and poet. He is the author of three books of poetry, “Chappaquiddick Poems” (2023), “Fragments in a Glass Bowl” (2019), and “Tug at the Knot” (2016).
